Terrific safe heater with no fumes : Fahrenheat Ceiling-Mount 5000 Watt Electric Heater, Model# FUH5-4
An excellent, easy to install heater. We needed to heat our open unfinished 1500 sq ft. basement. This basement has several windows and also walkout access through sliding glass doors. Even in the coldest weather this heater maintained a very comfortable temperature in the entire basement space. Our basement is insulated but I think this unit might have even heated it if it wear uninsulated.
Knowing the fan throw was not designed to cover a 55' by 26' basement we used two small 5 inch fans to circulate the air around the perimeter of our basement. This also helps circulate air from a dehumidifier. This is a much better solution than small space heaters or baseboard, you need so many units! This single 5000 watt unit only requires one circuit, so it is a much safer solution and far less costly to install.
The thermostat regulates the temperature quite well. We've used this heater for two years now with no problems. The delayed fan start is great, avoiding cold blasts of air, and the fan does not turn off until most of the heat is dissipated, preventing a hot spot.
Yet another advantage is this setup heats the upstairs floor as well making it quite comfortable in bare feet. And we were perfectly fine with the upstairs baseboards cycling less. Less creaking from the baseboards!
I was surprised to see the one disappointing review. The comment made by Mr.Agresti to the poor review addresses some potential installation problems by the reviewer. I personally think that 5000 Watts might be a little small for a garage, but Mr. Agresti thought it was fine in his garage.
This heater was installed just below our bedroom but it was barely audible when running late at night while we were in bed. It's a relatively quiet fan. So good quality, easy to install, and re-usable in other applications.
